Yeah, I've seen those Max Lyons pics too.
There is another pic that I'm thinking of that I really liked - not sure if it was by Max or not though - but I couldn't find it.
There was a very complex stittched pic that was taken inside in a multistoried open building or art gallery or something - so it was really tough to stitch together because of all the straight lines in the architecture and whatnot, you know?
For my stitched pics, I just use photoshop - I don't really use the panoramic tool, I just kind of do it by hand (mine are so simple that I can do it that way without a crazy amount of work).
I did a 360 degree panoramic, but this one is just a test. It is extremely choppy, and I didn't try to get it to look seemless. It was taken from the middle of the road across the street from the Shanty (our friend's house in New Hampshire).
Also, it is in 2 pieces, basically so it is viewable:

I have some more D70 pics here:
http://www.humpa.com/photos/index.php
That is a Coppermine gallery (that's just the name of php script).
I don't have a link to those pics from my site though - since they are mostly just nude shots from Fantasy Fest
They are not artistic photos like some of my other shots (not that I'm an artist - but I do try to at least make the effort at art) - but they are fun to look at none the less.
I tried to get "artsy" one day and just shot with my nice 85mm lens - but it was a rather failed attempt. But I do love that 85mm lens (I love the out-of-focus abilities of it - the "bokeh", you know?):

Heh, for once, I'm actually looking forward to coming in to work tonight. I'm gonna sit down and have a good old trawl through all those albums.
There's some software which I can put on my phone called Panoman which does Panaromics - you set it running, then slowly move the camera around and it kind of lines up the edge of one image with another and stitches them together. I'll try and put it on there today and take a pic of the harbour where I live. Ok, so it's not a touch on your D70, but fun nonetheless!
I'm going to have to try and drop some big hints to the wife that I *need* (not want, but really need) a new camera now |

ok ... thanks .. I'll talk to you later (i'm off to bed)
The D50 is also a sweet little camera, and not too expensive.
And the good thing about Nikon, is there are tons and tons of used lenses to be had - I bought all my lenses used from ebay or some of the online photo stores
But the new D200 is an amazing machine if you can afford it.
I have the 18-70mm f3.5-4.5 zoom that the D70 came with, then I bought a used 50mm f1.4, and 85mm f1.8, a 300mm f4, and a 70-210mm f4 ... those are all Nikon/Nikkor lenses. But I also bought a kenko 1.4x converter.
This shot of the moon was taken with the 300mm and the 1.4x converter (and the remote control shutter release and a bogen tripod):
