|

Hi Humpa,
I have been using your MMS server for a couple of years now, (BTW, Thank You... its been a wonderful thing....) but the V710 that I was using has now bitten the dust, and I now have a Motorola Q. I notice that you have one too, and I was curious if you have found out the "magic" to re-direct the MMS server entry on that thing to point to one of your servers?
Thanks in advance,

Well, if you have data, then simply use emails instead of paying for MMS messages. With my Q9m, I just email my pics right to username.password@thephonecam.com, but people have setup my humpa_mms to accept email messages. There are posts about it. One easy method is using word press blog and the postie plugin for emailing pics. I believe there is fairly good posts in my forums for setting that up. Let me know what you think.
I'm not sure how to edit the MMS server. Is there a documented regedit for that? |

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Motorola\MMS\Profiles\VZW MMS
That seems to have all the settings. Try changing the MMSC URL and see if it works.
Ok, I just test it, and it works perfectly.
Also, while you are using the regedit you can change the "Lock" value from 1 to 0 and then you can edit the MMS settings right from your MMS settings menu without having to go thru the registry. |

Thanks. That's just what I was looking for. But....I changed the only "lock" that I could find ("Profile Locked" under VZW MMS) and that didn't open up a MMS setting menu. In fact, I currently don't have a MMS settings menu. (That I've been able to find anyway...)
Any further thoughts.
Thanks again,

The MMS settings are there all the time. If they are locked, you can't edit them, but they are still there and grayed out.
Go to Messages > then Menu > Tools > and Switch Accounts and go to the MMS account > then click Menu > MMS Settings > then choose MMSC Settings |

Noooo...That's not the way mine is. I never get anything called "tools", but I do have a "switch accounts", and I can select MMS, but under that there is NO settings menu. I don't think we are comparing the "same apples". How do I tell the verion of software in this thing? (I just got it last weekend, NIB from my local Verizon store here in Dallas.) Maybe I should just bite the bullet and mod my version of your pix server to accept e-mails. Its just that I have so very little time to mess with it, and I get pix messaging as part of a "bundle' that VZW set me up with that includes text messages....... Did I read somewhere that ur in Vegas? Hope you're winning....
Thx again,

I have the Q9m from Verizon, I guess you just have the Q?
So, it sounds like you don't have that MMS settings menu.
Why not just do it from the registry like I already posted?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Motorola\MMS\Profiles\VZW MMS
That seems to have all the settings. Change the MMSC URL and you're done. |

Mystery solved! Via the registry it is. Thanks for all of your help.
