|
|
Create your own Custom WAP Homepage, complete with a personalized URL.
You can view your Homepage from your mobile phone (or any browser) by going to wap.humpa.com/username!
Once you have logged in, you can begin using your custom url or give it to your friends.
You can have as many categories and links as you'd like on your homepage and category pages.
Once you register (free) you will have the default Categories, just to get you started. But you can delete any of those simply by unlecting them and updating.
To use your own Custom Categories, simply select how many categories you want to add!
For all your Custom Categories, just click on the Edit Category link to begin. You will then be able to add links and sub-categories or change the order of the links and sub-categories.
You can even put the Go To URL form on any of your pages.
To Add Links there is a link on the top left of your Edit Homepage screen. Just select the links you want to add, and the Custom Category you want to add them to.
If you haven't created any Custom Categories, you will only be able to add links to your main/top page.
You can only select links from the database, so if you have some other links you want to use you will only have to go to www.humpa.com/links and add them!
Remeber that the accesskeys will only work for the first 10 links or categories on any page (pressing the 1 thru 9 number keys to jump to a link, and 0 for 10)
The Go To URL can also have an accesskey - if there are less than less than 10 links/categories on a page, then the Go To URL will be given an accesskey.

Hey Humpa,
great idea
However...I just went to register, put in Phree as my username and got an error back - "Sorry, that username is already taken" (or words to that effect). Bit odd I thought. So then I just tried logging in - and used the same password as on here - and it logged me straight in! Is that right?
Cheers - I'm away to make my homepage! |

Yes!
I just used the phpbb forums user table. I thought that was slick.
Though the people who sign up thru the WAP Custom Homepage are not activated. That doesn't affect the Custom Homepage, but it does affect phpbb. They have to email me if they want to be activated on here. I didn't want to leave the spammers with a way in.
But one thing I just thought of - I bet your username is not showing up in the dropdown list of custom homepages. There is on little piece I didn't think of, but I can fix that in a second. |

I added your bbc weather link
I also fixed the code so you'd show in the dropdown, but it still isn't perfect.
I show the top ten most voted, and then the 5 newest. If there are less than ten that have a vote, then I just show more newest. But I sort the newest by regdate, and you have an old regdate.
... so I voted for your site (I hadn't voted from my office IP yet, so it let me without having to cheat). |

Definitely a slick idea
Thanks for adding the link. I'll have a play around with it tonight. Certainly makes things a lot easier having this. Wonder if it will work with my psp as well??? |

It is only html.
It is valid html (I checked it against the w3c validator), but that's it. |

Humpa,
Very neat!
I tried to just navigate to the site via Google but accesskey failed to work. When the site is loaded as the default homepage in the phone, though, it works fine.
Some of the links are broken...and where ON EARTH did you find that Italian SpeedTest!
Very Slick, Humpa! _________________ Gearscout |

Many of the links are old - I dont know which ones are broken. I don't really use Mobile Web.
Google processes the page, so it proably does something to the accesskeys. |

You can send me an email or just create a new post ... I don't have a designated "reporat a bad link" area at the moment. |
